Vancouver, BC, January 31, 2014--(T-Net)--Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc., a company that recovers phosphorus and nitrogen from wastewater and transforms them into an enhanced efficiency, slow-release fertilizer marketed under the brand Crystal Green, announced today that Scott Tullis has joined the company as Regional Sales Manager, Pacific Northwest.
“We are pleased that Scott has joined the sales team to introduce Crystal Green to growers in the Pacific Northwest” said Phillip Abrary, Ostara President and CEO. “University research and field studies show that Crystal Green can significantly improve yields in a range of crops. Scott's extensive regional knowledge and crop expertise will play a key role in showing growers that incorporating Crystal Green into their nutrient programs can boost the bottom line.”
Mr. Tullis is a veteran of the fertilizer and fungicide sector whose background includes introducing new products and technologies to the marketplace. Most recently, at Biagro Western, he established new markets for the company's phosphite products, including planter band and seed treatment applications, throughout the northern U.S. His background also includes roles as Agronomist at Pendleton Grain Growers, and Northwest Representative for Phosyn. A graduate from Oregon State with a B.S. in Agronomy, Mr. Tullis also holds licenses as a pesticide consultant and applicator in the state of Oregon.
“I am looking forward to bringing Crystal Green to growers in the PNW region,” he said. “As a plant-activated source of phosphorus with full-season longevity, Crystal Green could be a game-changer for a crop like potatoes, where mid-season P availability is absolutely critical. Crystal Green can mean the difference between a good harvest and an outstanding one - and that translates to a higher return on investment.”
Crystal Green is a Plant-Activated™ source of slow-release phosphorus, plus nitrogen and magnesium. Unlike water-soluble forms of phosphorus, Crystal Green is citrate-soluble and releases nutrients solely in response to root demand, thus lasting three to four times longer than conventional P fertilizers without getting tied up. For crops like potatoes where mid- to late-season P availability is crucial for tuber bulking and maturation, adding Crystal Green to the nutrient program ensures that phosphorus is available at critical stages in the growing season, resulting in higher marketable yields of premium quality potatoes. In addition to potatoes, Crystal Green has been shown to improve marketable yields in a number of crops including alfalfa, tomatoes and lettuce amongst others.
Mr. Tullis will focus efforts on agricultural business development opportunities for Crystal Green throughout North America, and, in particular, the Pacific Northwest. He is based in Hermiston, OR and can be reached at 541-571-3152 or at stullis@ostara.com.
