Vancouver, BC, April 11, 2014--(T-Net)--Nerd Corps Entertainment announced today that it has secured several broadcast deals for its latest original comedy series, Endangered Species.
Global rollout for the studio's third original comedy, created by founder and CEO Asaph Fipke, will kick-off summer 2014 and continue into 2015.
As the first season production continues and TELETOON prepares to debut the series in Canada this fall, ABC TV has secured rights for exclusive free TV and non-exclusive streaming in Australia.
Discovery Italia has struck a similar deal for free TV rights and non-exclusive free VOD to bring the series to Italy. Meanwhile, Canal Plus has acquired rights for Endangered Species for pay TV on Canal+Family and Teletoon+ in France.
Discussions are underway with additional deals imminent in key territories this spring.
Endangered Species is an off-beat comedy that follows three mismatched best friends living in a tree stump: Pickle the adrenaline-junkie bunny, Merl the safety-conscious squirrel, and Gull the naïve but adoring seagull. This trio's domestic life might sound pretty tame, but everything that happens to them is seriously wild.
“Endangered Species is a unique show,” said Ace Fipke, creator of Endangered Species, “as its comedic strengths come from the parameters of the concept. Three characters stay in one location, but anything can happen there—so Pickle, Merl and Gull find themselves perpetually endangered as their everyday antics spiral out control into hilariously dangerous chaos. ”
The series is produced as 26 commercial half-hours or 52 x 11-minute episodes, aimed at a core kid demographic of 6- to 11-year-olds. Bonus on-air and digital video content has is also in production to support the series, along with three games for online and mobile platforms, and web content.
“We're very excited to see Endangered Species find such fantastic broadcast berths around the world,” said Ken Faier, El Presidente of Nerd Corps. “It speaks to the quality of the content and potential for the series to hit that comedy sweet spot with kid audiences worldwide.”

About Endangered Species
A bunny, a squirrel and a seagull might be the most common park animals around, but in a certain tree stump that these particular critters call home, they are perpetually endangered!
PICKLE is a hyper-imaginative bunny with a compulsive need to super-charge everything and have the Best! Adventure! Day! EVER! (Resistance is futile, Merl!) MERL is an overly suspicious and safety conscious squirrel, who believes a perfectly planned day at home is the key to surviving the dangerous and unpredictable world outside—and Pickle's plans for fun. GULL the garbage-loving seagull may not be the brightest buoy on the ocean, but you'll never find a more adoring (and malodorous) buddy. The most important thing to Gull is that his two bestest friends are happy...and close by. Forever. And ever and ever.
Three animal buddies living together in a tree stump might sound pretty tame, but everything that happens to this trio is seriously, hilariously wild! Every day-to-day happening in the stump becomes a treacherous, over-the-top, squash-and-stretch hyper romp adventure—no matter how hard Merl tries to avoid it. For being best friends, this wacky trio find themselves accidentally on the verge of mutual destruction an awful lot, whether by punching a hole in the universe while taking apart a puzzle, or by ordering a vacation-in-a-box that transforms the stump into a maze of raging rivers and rockslides.
Despite their differences and destructively fun-loving ways, these endangered species will remain bestest friends till the very end...no matter how much it hurts.
26 x 22 minutes comedy series (52 x 11 minutes)
