Vancouver, BC, June 4, 2014--(T-Net)--Medeo announced today the launch of a national alliance with PwC Canada, bringing its virtual care platform to healthcare providers and patients across Canada.
Medeo's platform delivers secure, high quality medical video visits and other online services. These can be done through mobile devices or through a desktop browser, enabling physicians and other healthcare practitioners with a set of virtual tools.
Medeo will pair its revolutionary technology with PwC's knowledge and leadership in healthcare strategy and innovation to advance the state of virtual care in Canada.
“This strategic alliance with PwC, a true leader in Canadian health, will improve upon the access, quality, and cost-effectiveness of healthcare across the country.” said Ryan Wilson, Medeo CEO. “We're working together to bring forth a new age of healthcare, where patients and providers have the modern tools they need to connect online in a simple and secure way.”
The alliance will deploy virtual care technology to health authorities, divisions of family practice, family health teams, hospitals and clinics across Canada.
Nearly two thirds of Canadians would consider using virtual options for their own care or for someone they care for, according to PwC's report: Making Care Mobile: Shifting perspectives on the virtualization of health care. The top motivators behind adopting virtual health (vHealth) and mobile health (mHealth) include: convenient access to a physician, ability to obtain information, and greater control over one's health.
The Medeo Health Online platform will also provide specialists, nurses, counsellors, medical office assistants and other healthcare providers with innovative tools for collaboration, greatly improving communication, access times and secure document sharing.
“We are excited to partner with Medeo to bring the future of virtual care to Canada.” said Will Falk, PwC's National Health Industries Leader. “We expect a quarter of all healthcare delivery to occur virtually by 2020. The Medeo platform will improve patient outcomes and ease the stress on our healthcare system by providing expanded access to practitioners.”
Medeo brings healthcare into the 21st century by letting healthcare providers connect with patients online through secure video visits, comprehensive e-charting tools, prescriptions, and a growing list of medical activities. Healthcare practitioners can start providing care online by visiting www.medeohealth.com.
Signing up as a patient on Medeo takes only minutes, according to the company. Over 20,000 Canadians have already signed onto Medeo to access their healthcare online including a permanent, private Personal Health Record (PHR) of their health visits on the Medeo platform.
