Vancouver, BC, July 8, 2015--(T-Net)-- ePACT Network Ltd., developers and operators or an online emergency network, announced today that it was selected in the second competitive round of the Western Innovation (WINN) Initiative to receive almost $1 million in Innovation Funding.
Launched in 2013, WINN is a five year initiative providing $100 million in repayable contributions to Western Canada based companies who are developing cutting edge technologies and services. Falling within Canada's Western Economic Diversification department, WINN was created to support innovation and commercial success for Western Canadian companies.
To receive WINN funds, candidates must complete a multi-stage application and selection process. In 2014, $21 million was awarded to 27 companies across B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
In this second year, 21 companies were successful applicants, with ePACT being one of just seven enterprises in British Columbia. ePACT will receive $920,152 to support expansion of the network across North America.
“We are proud to have the Government of Canada recognize ePACT as an innovator, and support our company with WINN,” said Christine Sommers, CEO of ePACT.
“These funds will directly assist our growth across Canada and the U.S. and help more communities better prepare for and respond to emergencies.”
ePACT is a free service for families to store critical emergency information online, then share it with individuals and organizations who can support them in a crisis. Organizations pay to use the system to connect their members, accessing information and communications to help in an emergency.
