Sidney, BC, June 27, 2017--(T-Net)--Local ocean tech company AML Oceanographic Ltd. (AML) announced today that it has purchased the global rights to the Moving Vessel Profiler (MVP) product line from Rolls-Royce Canada.
Originally developed in Halifax, NS by Brooke Ocean Technology (BOT) and later owned by Rolls-Royce, the MVP system is widely known as the industry standard in high speed, underway profiling.
The acquisition places AML, a leading sensor and instrumentation manufacturer for the global hydrographic survey and environmental monitoring markets, in a unique position to provide end-to-end vertical profiling solutions to its customers.
“AML is delighted with this acquisition. Many MVP users are already AML customers and vice-versa. The strategic fit is very tight. We look forward to breathing new life into the technology,” says AML CEO Robert Haydock, “AML is proud to be a part of Victoria's tech industry, and we are excited about the growth this will contribute to the community.”
The MVP user base is distributed throughout Europe, Asia, North America, and South America, and includes such hydrographic thought leaders as the Canadian Hydrographic Service and the United States' Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVO) and NOAA.
AML owns the global rights to manufacture of new systems and support of the existing install base. MVP activities will be managed out of AML's Dartmouth, NS office. AML's Dartmouth team already has extensive experience in MVP systems, with more than 50 man years of design, manufacture, and support experience.
The MVP is an integrated engineering solution with mechanical, electronic, software and firmware elements. With the acquisition of this product line, AML Oceanographic expects significant growth in both its Sidney, BC and Dartmouth, NS operations.
