Slack Raising $250 Million in New Funding Round (at $5B Valuation)

San Francisco (& Vancouver, BC), CA, July 27, 2017--(T-Net)--CNBC is reporting today that software startup Slack is currently trying to raise another $250 million in a new funding round with company valuation at approximately $5 billion, up from a reported $3.8 billion in its last round.
Slack Technologies, Inc. is a Canadian software company which was founded in 2009 in Vancouver, BC. The core original team was largely drawn from the founders of Ludicorp, the company that created Flickr (in Vancouver) and was later sold to Yahoo, according to Wikipedia.
Slack is reportedly the fastest company to ever receive a billion dollar valuation. The company has headquarters in San Francisco with additional offices in Dublin, Vancouver and Toronto.
CNBC is reporting that the investment is being led by SoftBank Group and venture capital firm Accel (a previous investor) according to their sources.
