Vancouver-based Buddybuild Acquired by Apple to help build Developer Tools for iOS CommunityWednesday, January 3, 2018
Vancouver, BC, January 3, 2018--(T-Net)--Buddybuild announced today that it has been acquired by heavyweight tech firm and iPhone developer Apple to join that company's Xcode engineering team to help build developer tools for the larger iOS community.
Launched in October 2015, buddybuild works to improve the development workflow used by mobile app developers, according to the company.
T-Net regular readers may recall that Vancouver-based Buddybuild, a leader in continuous integration and delivery for mobile applications raised a $7.6 USD million Series A funding round in May 2016 led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers and with participation from all pre-existing investors, including Amplify Partners, Bloomberg Beta and First Round Capital.
One of the interesting parts of that financing was that Buddybuild reportedly made it a non-negotiable term of the financing that the company be allowed to remain and build the company in Vancouver, BC and Canada (versus being asked to move to Silicon Valley).
So it's interesting to hear that they in fact WILL be staying in Vancouver, even following the acquisition by heavyweight tech firm Apple.
