Vancouver based renewable energy software startup Clir Renewables announced as a recipient of funding from Sustainable Development Technology Canada
Vancouver, BC, December 4, 2018--(T-Net)--Clir Renewables announced that it has recently received $1.5 million in funding and support from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) under the SD Tech Fund program.
The Government of Canada awarded 14 companies government funding for their clean technology development projects (three of them from BC).
Clir says it will utilize the Canadian government funding to use data and automation to help wind farms optimize power production and assess the performance of their assets over time.
The Sustainable Development Technology Canada's SD Tech Fund supports pre-commercial cleantech innovation research and development projects with clean technology funding. These projects aid in the search for sustainable energy and waste management solutions.
Zoë Kolbuc, Vice President, Partnerships at Sustainable Development Technology Canada said, "SDTC is thrilled to support Clir Renewables as they make wind power even more efficient by leveraging the power of data and automation to optimize energy production. This is a great example of how cleantech is disrupting, and improving renewable energy production."
Jake Gray, COO of Clir Renewables
"It is great for our software to get this support from SDTC as a step in the right direction in the fight against climate change. The more energy that can be produced from sustainable sources reduces the dependency on fossil fuels for energy generation," said Jake Gray, COO of Clir Renewables.
Clir's head office is in Vancouver and teh company recently expanded into Europe with a new UK office. In those two years, the company's staff numbers have tripled, and the company is currently hiring on T-Net.
The three BC companies receiving SDTC funding are:
Semios, Vancouver ($9,900,000): Semios will use its clean technology funding for data and machine learning to improve tree fruit and nut crops while using less water and reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHG).
Terramera, Vancouver ($2,500,000): Terramera will use funding from the SD Tech Fund to develop a biopesticide for use in Canadian agricultural markets.
Clir Renewables, Richmond ($1,500,000): Clir Renewables is utilizing Canadian government funding to use data and automation to help wind farms optimize power production and assess the performance of their assets over time.
