BC Tech Association to Close its 6000 sq' AR/VR/Mixed Reality Community Hub Facility in Railtown, Citing Lack of Funding
Monday, April 22, 2019
Vancouver, BC, April 22, 2019--(T-Net)--The BC Tech Association announced last week that it will be closing its Cube facility in Railtown effective May 17th.
The 6000 square foot location was established as an Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality community hub in September 2017 with the support of key industry founding partners and in partnership with the AR/VR Society.
The Cube's primary source of operational funding was the BC Tech Association, who accessed federal funding for the Cube via the Canadian Accelerator and Incubator Program. That program came to an end on March 31, 2019.
The BC Tech Association says it was unable to secure provincial or federal funding to enable the Cube to remain open.
A central resource for BC's Tech community the Cube was home to over 20 AR/VR/MR companies and hosted community events.
The announcement was made in a news release issued on the BC Tech Association website last week on Tuesday, April 16th.
