Ride-Hailing Company Lyft Intends to Operate in Vancouver, Hires new GM for Vancouver Region

Vancouver, BC, August 12, 2019--(T-Net)--The Vancouver Sun reported this morning that Lyft plans to begin operating in Vancouver this fall, despite various additional requirements thrown up by local regulatory authorities not required in other jurisdictions.
The company also announced that it has hiried Peter Lukomskyj (formerly
SVP Products at Elastic Path Software) as the company's new general manager in B.C.

According to the Vancouver Sun, "ride-hailing companies have to apply to the Passenger Transportation Board for permission to operate, with applications being accepted starting Sept. 3".
"The board also sets guidelines for fares, boundaries and numbers of vehicles. All drivers will have to have a Class 4 commercial driving licence in order to drive for one of these companies."
