Monday, July 12, 2021
Vancouver, BC, July 12, 2021--B.C. added 42,000 jobs in June, the first increase since March as pandemic restrictions began to lift, according to Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey Friday. The unemployment rate was 6.6 per cent in June, the second lowest in the country after Quebec. In Metro Vancouver, employment was up by 1.5 per cent with 22,000 new jobs. B.C. Jobs Minister Ravi Kahlon said B.C. has surpassed pre-pandemic employment levels — the only province to do so in June — recovering over 100 per cent of the jobs lost during COVID-19.
