Uber Canada Unveils 'Comfort Electric' in Vancouver, Riders Can Now Request an 'All Electric' Ride
Friday, September 23, 2022
Vancouver, BC, September 23, 2022--(T-Net)--Four months ago Uber unveiled Comfort Electric, their first all-electric rides offering, in a handful of California cities.
Now, with more electric rides happening than ever, Comfort Electric says it is going national. Effective mmediately, riders in 24 cities across the US in addition to Vancouver, Canada, can request a Comfort Electric ride.
Uber Comfort Electric gives riders a new way to go from A to B and be a part of the climate solution. It's as simple as tapping a button and requesting a ride in a premium Electric Vehicle (EV), like a Tesla, Polestar, or Ford Mustang Mach-E.
The company says it has received great feedback from riders about Comfort Electric but they're not the only ones enjoying this new product experience - drivers are too.
Drivers eligible for Comfort Electric can earn more per hour as a result of higher fares, gas savings, and an extra $1-per-trip incentive for each trip they complete (up to $4K annually). And they're making a positive environmental impact: in 2022 alone, EV drivers active on the Uber platform have avoided using over 5.7M gallons of gasoline, according to the company.
The company says its recent partnership with Hertz has helped pave the way for the expansion of Comfort Electric, with more than 25,000 drivers renting a Tesla.
Comfort Electric is now available in the following cities:
Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore-Maryland, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Connecticut, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey, NYC Suburbs, Philadelphia, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St Louis, Vancouver (Canada), Washington D.C.
Vancouver appears to be the only Canadian city currently operating the new Comfort Electric service.
