UBC Appoints Dr. Deborah Buszard as Interim President and Vice-Chancellor

Vancouver, BC, October 4, 2022--The University of British Columbia announced that Dr. Deborah Buszard has been appointed Interim President and Vice-Chancellor. Dr. Buszard served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the UBC Okanagan campus between 2012 and 2020. In that capacity she provided overall leadership to UBC Okanagan and was a core member of UBC's executive leadership team.

UBC Team Discovers 'Silver Bullet' to Keep Medical Devices Free of Bacteria

Vancouver, BC, June 30, 2022--University of British Columbia researchers have found a 'silver bullet' to kill bacteria and keep them from infecting patients who have medical devices implanted. The team from UBC and the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute has developed a silver-based coating that can easily be applied to devices such as catheters and stents.

UBC Study Finds Metro Vancouver Can Safely Integrate Most New Electric-Powered Mobility Devices

Vancouver, BC, June 10, 2022--Love them or hate them, new mobility devices like e-bikes are here to stay. In one of the first large-scale studies to measure the real-world usage of these devices, UBC transportation researchers found that most other road users are comfortable sharing cycling lanes and off-street paths with these new modes of transport—despite some misperceptions of how fast these devices are actually going.
