Conquer Mobile receives $250,000 to further develop Perioperative Simulation Application in Halifax
Vancouver, BC, November 8, 2017--(T-Net)--Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
Patients will benefit from a new perioperative simulation (PeriopSim) application (English only) by Conquer Mobile that will better equip medical teams with skills for surgery as a result of a $250,000 investment from the Government of Canada.
Andy Fillmore, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Democratic Institutions and Member of Parliament for Halifax, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced support that will help Conquer Mobile further develop its app used to train perioperative nurses through experiential learning.
The company is partnering with the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and BIOTIC, which is located at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, on this project.
The funds will enable the company to acquire specialized equipment and identify skilled workers to film and edit video content for the application.
The company will work in close collaboration with the NSHA's Department of Surgery to produce, edit and implement videos for 100 surgical modules. The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) has piloted the application, which is in use at over 200 hospitals in Canada and the United States, resulting in secured contracts in hospitals and hospital networks.
The project is being funded through ACOA's Business Development Program, which supports small and medium-sized enterprises and not-for-profit organizations that provide support to Atlantic businesses.
This investment is part of the government's Innovation and Skills Plan, a multi-year strategy to create well-paying jobs for the middle class and those working hard to join it.
