Vancouver, BC, November 1, 2013--(T-Net)--A unique IP connectivity solution for smart buildings developed by Optigo Networks has achieved over 52 percent cost-savings in its first international project in Denver, Colorado, according to a press release issued by the company.
The Vancouver start-up is providing an innovative optical networking solution that connects the surveillance and security systems at the Aster Conservatory Green in Denver, a large residential development built by Forest City Enterprises.
With over 352 residences across 24 low-rise buildings, Optigo Networks reported that it designed and implemented an optical networking system that provides increased reliability and scalability at a reduced cost.
“Optigo is delighted to have delivered such clear benefits to a major player like Forest City,” commented Pook-Ping Yao, CEO of Optigo Networks. “Our solution is custom-designed for the intelligent building market and we have been fortunate to have supporters like Forest City see the value in our unique system and choose Optigo.”
Given how large and spread out the development is, traditional technology would have resulted in reduced reliability and higher costs for the developer, according to the company.
“Optigo's solution has allowed our Denver project to improve its network design and management,” said Mike Smith, VP of Building Technology Services at Forest City Enterprises. “Their technology has allowed us to cut the capital costs of our network equipment in half.”
Forest City is a NYSE-listed national real estate company with $10.6 billion in total assets. The company is principally engaged in the ownership, development, management and acquisition of commercial and residential real estate and land throughout the United States.
Optigo Networks is pursuing further opportunities with Forest City and other property developers and integrators across North America to capture a share of the $167 billion intelligent building market.
