Vancouver-Based 'Cyber Security' Start-Up Company Kobalt Closes $1 Million Investment

Vancouver, BC, May 2, 2019--(T-Net)--Vancouver-based cyber security company Kobalt introduced this week well known entrepreneurs and investors Pankaj Agarwal and Boris Wertz as company co-founders, investors and key supporters of their mission to bring better cyber security to small and mid-sized organizations.
Betakit is reporting that the investment amount in Kobalt was for $1 million and comprised a 'founders round'. See their full story with substantial additional detail on this investment here.
Boris Wertz of Version One Ventures described Kobalt in a blog post this week as a new "security as a service company".
"Security is increasingly on everybody's mind, with several high profile, large scale hacks over the past few years. Yet while security is a real concern for all, the reality is that many small and medium sized organizations don't have the resources to have a full-time security expert on staff to monitor security incidents", said Boris.
"This is where Kobalt comes in: Kobalt levels up your security efforts by continuously monitoring for security incidents so that companies can respond quickly and effectively to incidents before they become security nightmares", he continued.
Pankaj is a serial entrepreneur, founding or co-founding Optimus Information, Enkel, TriNimbus (prior to acquisition by Onica) and has been an early stage investor and supporter of dozens of successful technology firms.
Boris Wertz is the founding partner at Version One Ventures, a BC and Silicon Valley based firm with an investment thesis in companies that leverage data at scale and network effects, with many successful early stage investments.
Michael Argast, co-founder and CEO of Kobalt
"Pankaj's and Boris' involvement was a key reason I chose to embark on this endeavour" said Michael Argast, co-founder and CEO of Kobalt. "Their expertise, support, wisdom and energy have been key for us early on in our journey and I look forward to continuing this adventure with them at our side."
Along with Pankaj's direct involvement, Kobalt also reported that it will partner with one of his companies, Optimus Information. Optimus has been a key contributor to the innovation of a wide range of technology companies in B.C. and abroad, contributing key talent to help with developing and releasing new products, cloud adoption and software development outsourcing.
"The opportunity to work with Boris and Pankaj, and join an impressive stable of tremendously successful SaaS and technology companies they have invested in previously, was compelling" said Michael Argast, co-founder and CEO of Kobalt.
"While security is a real concern for all, the reality is that many small and medium sized organizations don't have the resources to have a full-time security expert on staff to monitor security incidents. We're excited to invest in Kobalt to help address this challenge." added Boris.
