Reliability is easy to take for granted: what are SREs and why do you need them?
Naveen Aggarwal will talk about how the industry defines Site Reliability Engineering and its role in WorkSafeBC DevOps. He will give a glimpse into "a day in the life of an SRE", including the main tasks and issues of the role. He will also talk about the DevOps culture at WorkSafeBC, including how the team works with various Agile teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Bio
Naveen Aggarwal (Naveen Aggarwal, MBA | LinkedIn) has experience in developing platforms and solutions for collaboration, content management, and automation. For the last 18 years, he has held various positions in engineering, architecture, and technical leadership. He joined WorksafeBC as a Site Reliability Engineer in 2019, after working as a Senior Platform Engineer at Starbucks in the Enterprise Data and Analytic Platform Team, where he built automation for provisioning big data solutions on Azure Cloud on demand. He also worked as a Consultant at Microsoft for 5 years, taking on different roles such as SharePoint Technical lead, Cloud Service Engineer, and Technical PM. Naveen is passionate about troubleshooting applications at scale and distributed systems. He is committed to engineering solutions that ensure software reliability and operational excellence, with a focus on observability, sustainable operations, and data-driven insights.
