This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which serves the telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Our portfolio combines our stored energy expertise with power systems, enclosures, and renewable energy products to deliver world-class solutions for diverse applications such as 5G, broadband, Internet of Things (IoT), data center, and solar power. Our cutting-edge technology includes Lithium batteries, Fault Managed Power Systems, and Extended Run Time battery backup systems that improve the reliability and resiliency of broadband networks.

Compensation Range: 91,400-137,000

Job Purpose
As a result of our continuing growth, we require a Principal Electronics Engineer as part of the Research and Advanced Development Team to help rapid development of cutting-edge power conversion concepts, prototypes, and products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with the Research and Advanced Development team to rapidly develop product concepts prior to commercialization.
- Innovate, design, and prototype electronics and embedded systems including power, communications, digital circuits, and control components.
- Design and implement firmware building blocks in C for various power converters control, electronics circuits, and communications.
- Innovate and design AI/ML enabled hardware & firmware solutions.
- Prototype new designs and validate them through testing.
- Create test plans and perform detailed testing and results analysis.
- Create documentation packages and assist product development teams through commercialization.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration by working with team members.
Qualifications
- A minimum of Master's degree in Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in Electronics and Embedded Controls Development. A Doctoral degree is considered an asset.
- Excellent problem solving & English communication skills (written & verbal).
- Excellent knowledge of fundamentals of Digital Signal Processing.
- Excellent understanding of analog & digital circuits including power electronics.
- Strong embedded C programming experience.
- Experience with version control systems.
- Experience implementing solutions involving AI, Machine Learning, Optimization Algorithms, and Predictive Maintenance is considered an asset.
- Knowledge and experience with microcontrollers/DSP.
- Ability to read hardware schematics and estimate the firmware required to control it.
- Experience with C coding for low-level hardware blocks like SPI, I2C, UART, PWM, etc.
- Experience with FPGA is a plus.
- Experience with analog circuit design and SPICE simulations is preferred.
- Self-Starter, willing to take ownership while being flexible and nimble.
- Ability to work cross functionally as part of a team with minimal supervision.
