Overview:
Our client is a Vancouver based clean-tech company that is leading the way in developing clean hydrogen solutions. They are currently involved in a ground-breaking project to develop a clean hydrogen plant in BC, and they require the expertise of a Mechanical or Process SME/Design Authority to ensure the successful designand eventual commissioning of the project.
Reporting to the Director of Compliance within the Engineering team, this role will act as the Design Authority and will be responsible for establishing the detailed requirements and ensuring that the design output documentation appropriately and accurately reflect the design basis. The successful candidate will provide overall technical expertise as they work to build gas and fluid handling plants, while developingengineering standards and business procedures that align with our client's core business.
This role is located in our client's Vancouver office, therefore relocation assistance for candidates outside of the BC Lower Mainland will be provided.
Our client maintains a hybrid work arrangement, however the successful candidate must be located in the Vancouver area, or be willing to relocate.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in gas and fluid handling along with an Engineering degree and current P.Eng. registration within a Canadian Province. Experience in oil and gas, electrolysis, or cryogenic systems is a must for this role.
Responsibilities:
- Working with our client's internal Engineering team, as well as their EPC partner, oversee the technical project set up and provide final review and sign-off on a project design basis
- Establish design requirements and ensure design output meets design basis
- Ensure design controls are in place and followed; review and approve QMS validation protocols prior to, and after execution
- Develop and update engineering design guidelines (systems development)
- Responsible for technical adequacy of final product
- Responsible for overall project design work
- Provide technical leadership and peer mentoring
- Final sign off on design, risk and quality
- Participate in key project design review meetings
- Support project development; technical scope, schedule, and budgets
- Responsible for continuous product improvement (research and development)
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience within an Engineering role
- Must have a strong background in hydrogen or cryogenic gas handling related experience
- Experience overseeing technically complex projects
- Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience working within cross functional teams
- Proficient with MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project)
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Must have current P.Eng. registration in Canada
- Must have valid work authorization in Canada
Salary: $155-185K
