About this job:

General Fusion is growing its Commercial Technology Projects group and is looking for a multitalented professional to take on the role of a Commercial Technology Account Manager.

Based out of the company's new US headquarters in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, General Fusion's Commercial Technology Projects group launches and manages the company's collaborations with national laboratories, universities, private industry, governments, and expert contractors.

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Technology Projects, Commercial Technology Account Managers play a unique and integral role at the company because they interface between General Fusion's technology teams, its business teams, and its various external partners to run unique, cutting-edge fusion technology projects.

General Fusion is looking for someone to:

• Help define a right-sized process for evaluating and launching prospective technology projects in collaboration with external partners

• Identify prospective collaborations by:
• • understanding General Fusion's technology needs
  • understanding our external partners' capabilities
• Evaluate and launch those collaborations by:
• • preparing project plans with technical stakeholders, both internal and external
  • preparing and submitting grant proposals for project funding, when grants are available
  • supporting or leading contract negotiations
  • executing established processes to get project buy-in from all General Fusion stakeholders, including science teams, engineering teams, business development teams, intellectual property stakeholders, finance teams, the project management office, investor relations teams, and government relations stakeholders
• Manage active collaboration projects by:
• • understanding in detail the entire project plan, including:
    • the technical objectives and technical execution plan
    • how those objectives fit into General Fusion's entire technology roadmap
    • any costs, schedules, milestones, and deliverables
    • the people involved
    • the business value of the collaboration
    • the nature and ownership of any intellectual property used or created
    • the commercial terms and conditions of the collaboration
  • meeting regularly with project team members
    • both internal and external project team members
    • in both structured and unstructured settings
    • both virtually and in person at General Fusion or partner facilities
  • creating and updating useful project records
    • using structured data
    • in and for a data-driven organization
  • identifying and mitigating risks to the project plan
  • reporting on project states and project metrics
