We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team on a 6 month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone coming out of public practice to step into an industry role where they can learn exponentially in an exciting and fast-paced sector. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering exceptional accounting, finance and operational services to the organization. This is achieved through effectively completing day-to-day accounting and month-end close activities, as well as timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
As a Senior Accountant, you will:
- Process complex journal entries for complex events/transactions
- Complete regular recording and reporting responsibilities timely and accurately
- Record intercompany transactions and reconciling intercompany balances
- Prepare working papers for month-ends, quarterly interim reviews, and annual audits
- Prepare monthly variance analysis of financial data and internal MD&A
- Perform IFRS research and prepare technical accounting memos as needed
- Ensure that accounting procedures performed comply with IFRS requirements and Company policies
- Identify and execute opportunities to streamline processes
- Support the AP team for bi-weekly pay runs, review and approve AP bills and expense reports for accuracy and compliance with Company policies
- Support systems implementations and required testing as needed
- Support Sr. Finance Manager with providing external consultants with ad hoc document requests for audits and tax filings
- Prepare assigned working papers on and validate GL reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Work alongside Assistant Controller and Sr Finance Manager to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Work alongside Assistant Controller to investigate and resolve audit/review findings and discrepancies
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the tech industry. Experience in public practice is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field, professional accounting designation (CPA) is an asset
- Thorough understanding of IFRS
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in researching and preparing technical accounting memos
- Consolidation experience in a multi-currency environment
- Professional and able to handle confidential material with due care
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and advanced Excel skills
- ERP system experience (preferably NetSuite) preferred, experience with different expense management software is an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work under tight deadlines

The salary range for this position is between $77,040 - $96,300. This salary range is specific to candidates located in British Columbia. The salary of the successful candidate will vary within this range based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities.
