Overview
The Engineering Systems Administrator works with the engineering management team to develop and maintain best in class engineering processes and tools. The role serves as the Global Change Administrator for the Engineering Change Management processes within the Vancouver Engineering group and is also responsible for the maintenance and configuration of the Engineering Product LifeCycle Management Tool (PTC Windchill) and Requirements Management and Verification Tool (PTC Windchill RV&S).
Position Responsibilities
Global Change Administration
- Administer the Engineering Change Management Process within the PTC Windchill PLM tool
- Audit Problem Reports, Change Requests, Change Notices, and Promotion Requests to ensure they conform to the Engineering Change Management Process documentation.
- Audit Deviation and Waiver requests to ensure they conform to the Variance Process documentation.
- Maintain KPIs for the Change Management Process
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Engineering Change Management process and documentation
Product Lifecycle Management tool administration and development
- Ensure the workflows in the PLM tool (Windchill) match the Engineering Change Management Process and Variance Process documentation
- Work with external IT support to resolve bugs in the PLM software
- Work with the internal superuser group, and external IT support to further develop the PLM software to meet the evolving needs of the Westport Fuel System Engineering Processes
- Work with internal and external IT support to complete upgrades to the PLM software
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the PLM processes and documentation
- Maintain and deliver training on Change Management and the PLM software tool
Product Requirements Management and Verification tool administration and development
- Work with internal and external IT support to resolve bugs in the Requirements Management and Verification software
- Work with internal and external IT support to complete upgrades to the Requirements Management and Verification software
- Work with the internal superuser group, and IT support to maintain and develop features for the Requirements Management and Verification software tool, in order to meet the evolving needs of the Westport Fuel Systems Engineering Processes
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Requirements Management and Verification processes and documentation
- Maintain and deliver training on the Requirements Management and Verification software tool
Health & Safety responsibilities:
- Promote Westport's H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
- Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
- Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or Post-secondary or Technical Diploma / Certificate
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
- A proven understanding of successful engineering change management processes
- Ability to manage and coordinate with external IT providers
- A willingness and ability to enforce the process
- An understanding of ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 and how they apply to engineering processes
- Experience with APQP based Product Development Processes
- Experience with the configuration of engineering PLM software packages
Beneficial Experience:
- Experience in an automotive, engineering or manufacturing environment or equivalent
- Experience with PTC Windchill administration and configuration
- Experience with PTC Windchill RV&S (formerly Integrity) administration and configuration
- An understanding and experience with automotive SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination)
- Experience with requirements management and verification processes
- Experience with issue resolution and structured problem solving (8D)
